Everywhere you go, the stores have empty selves and out-of-stock signs. Several factors are creating this situation: lack of employees, shipping back-ups, and lack of materials. So now this monster of product shortages is about to affect your Christmas season, ugh. Christmas mainstays like decor, gift items, and toys could run low or out early in the shopping season. A considerable part of the issue for Christmas decor is the shipping bog down at American ports. Our vendors have shipments still arriving, but they have no idea when the products will be available for delivery.
Our store has been fortunate so far because we requested early shipping dates. Even with that, we have only received a little over half of our ordered merchandise. There is a ship waiting near Savannah to deliver my most significant order right now. Because of trucking delays, I plan to DIY my delivery by getting the order myself, just me, my pick-up truck, and some Christmas music on the satellite radio. Another way we are fortunate is that we have stock left from last year. While that didn't make use feel good in February, it does now. As a result, we may end up with a better selection than some of the major retailers. I'll take that as a big win. I never thought I might be able to compete with retail giants.
